Dedicated to my dear friends and amazing colleagues at the Wm. S. Haynes Flute Company, in celebration of being the European Artist-in-Residence for ten years!

This piece is a short, accessible, cool piece in three parts - beginning calm and serene, then becoming mechanised with hissing and machine-like rhythms, and finally becoming heroic and brave for the finale!

Instrumentation:
1 x Piccolo
5 x Flutes
2 x Alto (or 1 x Alto & 1 x Bass)

This piece was originally written for two altos (and the recording below is with two altos) so it can be played easily in ensembles that don’t have bass flutes - but in order to be flexible I provided an optional bass flute part to cover the (lower) alto part.
